There are three basic thoughts that guide Gordon's outlook on life in general.

"Take care of the small things and the big ones will follow."

In all things that you do you must be aware of the small details before you can achieve the larger goal.  This applies to learning: Perfect the basics and the more abstract ideas will become clear.  Applied to training, when you have learned the basic moves then the more advanced moves will follow.  By building on the simplest of basics in all endeavors the more complex will be easier to achieve.

"If you always do what you have done you will always get what you have gotten."

If you are working at achieving a goal and you just seem to never get there, then it is time to evaluate what you are doing.  If you are doing the same thing but not getting closer to your goal then it is time to take another approach by altering one or more actions.  Then re-evaluate your progress.  Sometimes it is necessary to seek guidance from a more experienced person.

"Yesterday was good, today is good, and tomorrow will be good."

In order to progress forward you must have a good attitude.  By acknowledging that yesterday was good; you learned what worked or what didn't work, you met someone, you accomplished something new, or you learned from a failure, this is all good if you see it as a learning experience.

Today always presents new opportunities to learn and grow based on yesterday.

Tomorrow is the expectation and promise of a better future based on your lessons from yesterday and today..
